The theme of the latest edition of Move magazine is 'Hope and hopelessness' and explores what it means to have hope in Jesus, how faith can conquer hopelessness and how we can support one another on a journey through doubts and dark nights of the soul.
Here's Communications Director Danielle explaining more:
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10: 23
‘Hope’ can be a lonely word. It’s the far-off dream or the last-ditch effort. This world’s version of hope is about the strength that we as individuals can muster within ourselves.
At face value, the familiar verse above seems to echo the lonely, individualistic hope of the world. Our natural inclination can be to try to cling to Jesus on our own, afraid to ask for help or let others know that we struggle. But verse 24 brings clarity ...
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works...”
Hope is not you against the world following Jesus. We’re in this together. My prayer for the church is that we would be people of hope, empathy and safety. That we would not be fearful of sharing our doubts and our struggles. That we would help others and be helped to follow Jesus.
