Today I wanted to share with you a lovely poem written by my friend Lindsay Reid from her collection 'Certain Joy':
Lessons
I saw in Him a light that was unfading, I saw in Him such power that demons fled, I saw in Him a truth beyond all knowledge - Oh teach me Lord, I said. He bent and poured some water in a basin, Washed His disciples' feet. They don't deserve Such treatment Lord! I told Him but He answered First you must learn to serve.
I saw in Him a future shining brightly, I heard in Him a voice that raised the dead, His aspect was as one who would command - Oh lead me Lord, I said. He led me to a hill outside a city, He pointed to a cross that towered high, If you would follow me, He told me gently, Then you must learn to die.
I saw in Him a love as deep as oceans, A blood that flowed so richly and so red, I saw in Him a holiness that chilled me, Oh save me Lord, I said. He looked on me with eyes of great compassion, He held out hands so scarred and wounded still, I knelt before Him, wondering as He answered, My child, He said, I will.
