The adventure begins (again)

Last week I got some very exciting news. After much prayer, plus application and interview process, I have been accepted to work for Agapé UK (again). I say 'again' because I used to work for Agapé from 2000 - 2003. I was younger and less wrinkled then, but my vision was the same - to help students understand the good news about Jesus Christ and have their lives transformed by him.
Two days after being officially accepted, I was down in Birmingham on a Support Discovery training course. All Agapé staff - from interns to the National Director - are responsible for raising their own salary through personal support. This has a good biblical basis - just look at the Levites, Jesus and Paul for examples of this model of ministry in action. One of the great things about having a team of supporters who are invested in my ministry is that they get to be part of something amazing and can see the difference their financial support and prayers are making.
I like the idea of 'support discovery'. You may be more familiar with the phrase 'support raising', but 'support discovery' captures more of what this is all about. God has called me to this ministry, so he will provide for me. It's not like I have to persuade people to part with their money - I'm merely offering people an opportunity to partner with me and discovering who it is that God has already set apart to join my support team.
I really enjoyed hanging out with the other new recruits, as well as catching up with some old friends who I haven't seen since last time I was on staff. It feels very much like coming home - doing what I always felt I was called to do. I'm excited about the next steps and I hope that you'll want to join me in my ministry. Do get in touch if you want to know more and find out more about supporting me here.
